Getting your file

You already own your DNA data.

If you have tested with 23andMe, AncestryDNA or MyHeritage, your raw data is free to download and takes a couple of minutes to get. That file is all we need — we do not sell kits and earn nothing from them.

Where to click

23andMe

  1. 1Sign in and open the menu under your name.
  2. 2Choose Resources, then Browse Raw Data.
  3. 3Open the Download tab, request the download, and confirm from the email they send.
  4. 4They email a link when the file is ready — usually within an hour.

AncestryDNA

  1. 1Sign in and open DNA, then Settings for your test.
  2. 2Find Download DNA Data and start the download.
  3. 3Confirm from the email they send, then download the file they prepare.

MyHeritage

  1. 1Sign in and open DNA, then Manage DNA Kits.
  2. 2Click the three dots beside your kit and choose Download Kit.
  3. 3Confirm by email, then download the file.

The file arrives as a .txt or a .zip. Save it somewhere you can find it on your phone or computer — you upload it exactly as it downloads, no editing, no unzipping needed.

Have not tested at all yet?

Any of the three services above will do, and their kits go on sale often. Results usually take three to six weeks. Once your raw data is downloadable, your report here takes minutes.
